From 25 January to 31 May 2020, the Lu.C.C.A. - Lucca Center Of Contemporary Art, is proud to present the exhibition “Storie del Novecento in Toscana. Soffici, Viani, Rosai, Maccari, Marcucci, Venturi: dal ritorno all’ordine alla conquista del disordine”.
The exhibition, curated by Maurizio Vanni and Piero Pananti, uses 81 works of art, including masterpieces borrowed by major Italian collectors and archives, to depict the figurative 20th century Tuscany.
Starting from the First World War, many artists and intellectuals revised their thoughts about the Avant-garde and, having overcome a futurist experience, there was a real 'return to order'. This idea was also supported by the magazine 'Valori plastici', which tried to look for reassuring answers in the past to rediscover national identity in classical culture.
